Leopard gecko stopped eating?

recently my largest male leopard gecko just stopped eating?! its tail went from huge to shriveled in a few days?! the same thing happened with my female? wats going on plez help! Thanks

  1. First of all make sure they are not on sand or other loose substrate, as impactions are common and deadly.  Waxworms should be fed as a treat...they are not very nutritious.  Better choices are superworms and gutloaded crickets.  What are your UTH temps?  They should be 88-91F.  Too hot or too cold will affect digestion.  If you suspect an impaction, get them to a herp vet ASAP.

  2. they are shedding their skin they always stop eating before hand.

  3. What are you feeding them? The same thing happened with the leopard gecko I had. He died of "impaction," which is when the crickets hard exoskeletons aren't digested correctly inside the gecko's stomach. Hopefully that's not it, but you can always take it to a vet in your area to see.
