Les Dodd added to Ronnie O’Sullivan’s victory in 2012 World Snooker Championship
Four-time World Snooker Championship winner Ronnie O’Sullivan showed tremendous snooker display in the final encounter of the 2012 World Snooker Championship against Ali Carter and was able to clinch the his fourth Championship title. Out of many factors
that play an important part in his victory, a major factor was Les Dodd’s tip that he fixed on Ronnie O’Sullivan’s cue stick.
The Rocket was playing impressively in the opening session and was in the lead when he felt a little bit of problem in his cue stick because the tip of the stick was not working properly. According to Dodd, during the first interval session of the match,
the Wordsley potter called for him and asked him to fix the tip of his cue stick.
Dodd fixed O’Sullivan’s cue stick with a 13mm Elkmaster tip with some amendments because O’Sullivan’s stick required a comparatively smaller one in size.
After getting his cue stick fixed, the Magician breezed into a tremendous game play and fired some outstanding snooker shots to finally clinch the final match against Carter by the score line of 18-11. Dodd believes that his revamped tip also played a vital
role in the Rocket’s win.
While speaking to the media, Dodd said, “I was meeting John Higgins and we were supposed to go to dinner but he wasn’t feeling well. Ronnie came over and said about his tip, I took it away and fixed it. You have got to be so careful that you don’t mark their
cues, but I’m so used to it it’s not hard.”
He added, “I’m just lucky to be trusted by them to get their tips and put them on their cues – it’s the sixth finger for them. I had a little bet on him when I had put the tip on because of the way he was speaking to me about it. Once you know his head is
in the right place you leave him to it.”
Meanwhile, the reigning World snooker champion will be getting ready to start his upcoming season campaign with the Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1. Before that, the snooker governing body, World Snooker will organise the World Snooker Qualifying
School (Q School) at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield.
