Les Noveau Riche of French football Paris Saint-Germain beat Marseille in the financial battle

Ahead of the crucial Ligue 1 encounter between traditional rivals Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain this Sunday, Paris-based newspaper, Le Parisien has shockingly released the details of salaries of staff of both clubs.

With this season’s first Clasico on the horizon, all media attention is towards the two giants of French football and Le Parisien has now published the salary details of the players who would be involved in the crunch tie in the province of Rhone.

Currently, Argentine international Lucho Gonzalez is the highest paid player among both sides but it is Les Rouges et Bleu who understandably have the highest payroll largely due to recent heavy investment made by owners in the summer.

Javier Pastore is currently earning 350,000 Euros a month and the sum could rise to 420,000 in the coming months. This makes the big money signing from Palermo the highest paid player at PSG.

Brazilian winger Nene earns 335,000 Euros while Diego Lugano and Mamadou Sakho earn 330,000 and 320,000 Euros a month respectively.

Momo Sissoko who signed from Juventus this summer earns 320,000 Euros a month.

However, salaries at Marseille are a little bit lower on average as only Lucho Gonzalez, Alou Diarra and Andre-Pierre Gignac earn above 300,000 Euros a month.

Gross monthly salary at Marseille

Lucho Gonzalez: € 360 000

Andre-Pierre Gignac, Alou Diarra: € 300 000

Mathieu Valbuena: € 250 000

Stéphane M'Bia: € 240 000

Steve Mandanda, Benoit Cheyrou: € 220 000

Souleymane Diawara, Loïc Rémy: € 200 000

Morgan Amalfitano: € 190 000

André Ayew: € 170 000

Charles Kaboré, Nicolas N'Koulou: € 150 000

Cesar Azpilicueta: € 140 000

Rod Fanni, Jérémy Morel: € 120 000

Jordan Ayew: € 80 000

Djimi Traore: € 50 000

Jean Philippe Sabo: € 20 000

Billel Omrani: € 8,000

Gross monthly salary at PSG

Javier Pastore: € 350 000

Nene: € 335 000

Diego Lugano: € 330 000

Mamadou Sakho, Mohamed Sissoko: € 320 000

Kevin Gameiro, Jérémy Menez: € 280 000

Salvatore Sirigu: € 250 000

Blaise Matuidi: € 240 000

Mevlut Erding: € 220 000

Guillaume Hoarau: € 200 000

Milan Bisevac, Mathieu Bodmer: € 180 000

Chantôme Clement, Sylvain Armand: 150 000

Zoumana Camara: € 140 000

Ceara: € 125 000

Nicolas Douchez: € 120 000

Christophe Jallet: € 100 000

Siaka Tiéné: € 70 000

Jean-Christophe Bahebeck: € 20 000

Those who should be paid more

Young Olympique de Marseille player Billel Omrani has been touted as the future of Les Phoceens and is slowly making his way to the Marseille senior side. The 18-year-old France Under-18 international is the lowest paid player in the Marseille squad as he
gets just 8000 Euros a month which is too less when one looks at the salary of Jean Philippe Sabo who is earning 20,000 Euros a month who has not impressed a lot at Marseille.

18-year-old winger Jean-Christophe Bahebeck is the lowest paid player in the PSG ranks with a gross monthly salary of 20,000 Euros a month. However, the youngster is reportedly being offered a new contract which would certainly lift his financial position
at PSG ahead of Siaka Tiéné who earns around 70,000 Euros a month.

Though the salaries would certainly not be making much of a difference to what will happen on Sunday, the payrolls do give a remarkable reading of how far PSG have come in financial terms within six months of the takeover of the club by the Qatar Investment
Authority.
