Les paul guitar?

i have a epiphone-gibson guitar and have already figured out its a les paul. is there a way to tell what kind of les paul it is. if it helps, the serial number starts with S

  1. If you're unsure of your guitar's origins, I would take it into an instrument dealer, preferably an independent and/or used one and ask one of the employees to take a look. The "S" probably only indicated which decade it was made in or something broad like that. I have a Les Paul Studio and I have trouble making out the serial number. My boyfriend, who works in one of the type of stores I mentioned managed to determine it is probable from the early '90s.


  2. Take a look at the Epiphone website, that should give you an idea as to whether you have anything from a LP-100, to a LP Custom. There's a few different models and levels of quality available from the Epi LP's

  3. if it has a flamed maple top with white binding, its a standard. trapazoid inlays

    if it has no binding its a studio, and studios have dot markers on the frets with epiphone

    block inlays,- its a custom

    and take it too your shop too, just to make sure
