Manchester City’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joleon-Lescott-c18941 has admitted that he is rather disappointed to see that a number of players families aren’t travelling to the Euros because of the potential racism that might exist during the tournament.
English fans have already been warned that they might be targeted by hooligans in the upcoming tournament and this has forced the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Oxlade-Chamberlain to reveal that their families won’t be travelling to the competition, in order
to avoid getting caught up in any nonsense that might occur.
Lescott is quite disappointed by this impact of the hooligans and feels that it is amazing that something that has nothing to do with football, could have such an impact on the players.
The City player, when talking about the situation that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 players and fans find themselves in is reported to have said: "It is a shame they have to make that decision for nothing to do with football.”
"Theo [Walcott] is a vital member of the squad. He is likely to play a lot of games and have a big role in the team. It is a shame his family won't be able to go and support him.”
"I understand it though, if they feel it is going to be a problem when he is out there.”
"My family won't be going either. Not for any particular reason, they just won't be going."
He then went on to talk about the fact that in order to get rid of the racism, the officials needed to try and contain it early on, or it could get well out of hand in the future. Lescott also feels that England has done a good http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 to take care of all the
racism that existed in football, but not every country has managed to be as effective as them.
The City centre back then went on to add: "You can't get rid of it from people's minds.”
"On the whole, our country deals with it pretty well. It is not as bad in England as it is in other countries."
It is now up to UEFA to look into the matter and try to sort it out before things get a little to escalated.
