hi, i was due on tuesday so im 3days overdue and since yesterday morning ive not felt my baby move. he moved once at around midnight as me and my partner were tapping my belly trying to see if he would respond but then nothing after that. i have a heart monitor thing so about 10 minutes ago i tried it on and can still hear his heart pumping away - so at least i know hes alive!! but ive being trying to read up on being 40 weeks pregnant and they say you normally feel your baby move more rather than less which is worrying me. has anyone been in a similar situation?! (baby was due 19th august)

  1. goo see your doctor with me i was supposibly due yesterday with my daugther and i have to get induced :( but maybe the baby is ready to come out but call the doctor or go in immediately!!!!

  2. Bless! Bet you feel like soeone has moved christmas day! To be honest I always thought it was the opposite and they move less because they have no room? But keep the heart monitor handy for your own peace of mind.

    Bet of luck with everything

  3. there isnt as much room in there anymore so movements will slow down.see your midife and tell her you are worried and she might induce you

  4. my midwife told me they moved less nearer the due date as they are getting pretty cramped for space.

im not that far along, so i cant comment from experience, but my sister's baby became quieter the day or so before she gave birth.

maybe see your doctor or midwife to reassure yourself that everything is fine.

  5. You should ring your midwife, they left me at home in labor for 3 days. With the contractions coming at weird times, it turned out he was lying toe wrong way. But the first thing they asked when I phoned was "have you felt ten movements" when on one of the days I said no they made me come in for monitoring. You should phone up to be ion the safe side.

  6. in the last weeks of my first pregnancy I went to the hospital twice for fetal monitoring better safe than sorry I would see your doctor as soon as possible he may suggest induction to get the ball rolling

  7. go see your doctor, at last stage of pregnancy you need peace of mind.

it may be that baby is just resting up for the big day...seems that my kids all "quieted down" then too.

  8. Yep, same thing happened with my wife and it scared her. They have less room to move around in there because they are so much bigger and some babies are just too lazy to try and move around in that tiny little crunched area.

  9. i would go get checked out but it stops moving because labor is about to start any minute now trust me i pregnant with my 7th but still get checked out please

  10. You should still feel your baby moving at least 10 times per day, even if you are a few days past your due date. At this stage of your pregnancy your baby doesn't have the space to be moving or rolling too much (no somersaults!!!).

If you are ever concerned about your baby's movement, you should always call the delivery suite of the hospital where you are booked to have your baby. Midwives work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Goodluck with everything!!

That's what we are there for!!!!

  11. Well listen...pls don't stay at home and stress over this..rather be safe and go see your doc...or go to the hospital and let them do a proper check.  I was overdue with all 3 babies and they were all perfectly fine and healthy. the first one was a emergency Caesar. Seems I just don't go into labor. What happened is the amniotic fluids could dry up and the baby could start going into distress amongst so many other things, so just make sure there is enough fluid.  Babies from what I do remember quieten down before there great arrival...but seriously don't take any chances and if you are worried follow those motherly instincts.

  12. My son was born at 42 1/2 weeks. There is not so much room any more, and once the head's engaged (ready for birthing) they tend to stay relatively still. As long as the heartbeats there and regular, I wouldn't worry too much.
