Less expensive option for Ball room dance floor, other than "sprung floor"?

While looking into dance floor construction, I learned that a sprung floor with several layers of cushioning wood slats, foam pad and a hardwood surface is the best type of dance floor. Is there a more cost effective option? I have installed many floating floors with 9 millimeter thick foam underlayment pad, would that be enough cushion for a dance floor? would more layers of pad help?

  1. I think that would be fine for a dance floor. Alot of studios use marley now too instead of wood.
