  1. I used to teach curriculum classes, reading and language arts education, and also supervised student teachers.  Later, I was a center manager for Head Start (ages 3 - 5).

I would recommend that you begin with a piece of children's literature each day, and let it inspire a range of activities and lessons.  There are lots of children's stories about friends and different aspects of friendship.  The resource books "Story Stretchers" and "More Story Stretchers" have an abundance of great ideas.

  2. Good luck with preschoolers!  This website is great for interactive literacy games.  Have you thought about planning for group work?  It is always good to do small, guided groups.  You can find tons of games/activities for group work at Free Reading.

  4. have fun.  and remember, you don't have to break up the lessons into the areas of math, english, ss and science -- you just have to be sure that it's all incorporated.  for example, if the children are counting out materials they will use to make a puppet to read with, you've just used math and english.  check the benchmarks and standards from your state and keep them in mind while designing your curriculum.  here are some sites that may have useful ideas.
