  1. yes... 1080P is full HD and 720 is the current HD picture being seen most everywhere... some HD DVDs can output 1080P but there are no plans to broadcast 1080P anytime soon.


  2. Not really....  "Full HD" is a marketing term used by Sony and others to describe 1080p.  

    However, HD supports 3 resolutions:  720p, 1080i and 1080p.  Currently, the ONLY source of material that is in 1080p is from either blu-ray or hd-dvd movies.  Broadcast, cable and satellite HD channels are usually only in 720p, with very very few being in 1080i.  For instance, the only 1080i HD channel I get is my local CBS affiliate.
