  1. The longest snake according to the crew at Guinness World Records is a Reticulated Python shot in 1912 with a measured length of 32feet 9inches

  2. The Reticulated Python(Python Reticulatus) is the longest snake, not the anaconda. Anacondas are just bigger.

edit: What i meant is anacondas are heavier than retics.

  3. Retics longer, anacondas heavier.

  4. They both reach the same length, although the python may be a foot or two longer on average. The anaconda weighs more than twice as much, has a larger girth, and is actually stronger...though primarily aquatic, unlike pythons which are terrestrial snakes.

  5. The green anaconda (Eunectes murinus) and reticulated python (Python reticulatus) have both been recorded reaching 33 feet, though such huge specimens are rare in either species. On average, it seems that the reticulated python grows to great length more often, probably because most large anacondas are killed by humans before they can attain their full size. The anaconda is much heavier, reaching up to 550lb in weight, and is therefore the largest snake in the world.
