Anil Kumble, the former Indian skipper, has come out in support of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chinnadupargea-Sachin-c50607 Tendulkar and feels that no one should dictate terms to the great batsman, who should be allowed to take a decision about retirement himself.
The batting-maestro has not had a very good time in international cricket over the last couple of years. His performance came under the scanner after a miserable showing in the recently concluded Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 at home, managing just 63 runs in the two fixtures.
Some of the former cricketers from all across the globe have slammed the little-master for unnecessarily prolonging his career. There are others who believe that the right-hander has gone past his best and it is about time that he makes way for the youngsters.
Kumble, who played alongside Tendulkar for numerous years, feels that the legendary batsman is no ordinary cricketer as he has become the symbol of Indian cricket over the years. The former leg-spinner feels honoured to have played so much cricket with a player, who is arguably the history’s best batsman.
"I can't think of Indian cricket without Tendulkar and I want him to continue," said the former captain. "It's a privilege to have shared Indian team dressing room for 13 years with Tendulkar. Eventually, he will have to take the call (for retirement). But this question of when to retire should be best left to him only."
The cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 holds the record of most number of runs in a career in Test cricket as well as in the 50-over format. With more than 33 thousand runs in international cricket and a ton of centuries, Sachin is a standout when it comes to statistics.
Having played professional cricket for a number of years, the former Indian skipper completely understands that retiring from the game is not an easy decision but every player has to go one day.
"For any sportsperson it is a tough decision and it is for the individual to take the call. Tendulkar will also eventually have to take the call," he added.
Tendulkar has already hinted that he may retire from the game after the series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, which starts next month.
