I pick up discarded bottles I see on the street or on top of trash receptacles and dump out the contents. These are not items I purchase. I even do this with soda, energy drinks etc. I figure that through evaporation or by watering something, I'm at least not wasting it or risking it hanging out in a landfill.

  1. I am not sure that all the sugar and salt in most drinks is good for the soil, but if you are recycling the containers I think it is a plus gain.

  2. As long as you are recycling the bottles I do not see a problem.

  3. As long as you are picking them up, could you move them to a recycling bin? I would say the most unpleasant part would be touching other peoples trash, but seeing as you're doing that anyway...

  4. Good for you. But are you throwing the bottles away or recycling them? That could be two things you are doing for the enviorment. People like you will make the difference.

  5. Heck, it can't hurt!

  6. More importantly, you wouldn't want to take the containers in for recycling with liquid still in them.
