Leta Lindley misses the cut at Kingsmill Championship
American Leta Lindley, whose fans expected her to shine at the ongoing Kingsmill Championship, faltered in the first two rounds, missing the cut.
Lindley walked off the course on Friday after she posted a 71 in the second round at Williamsburg, Virginia.
The American star started her second round with plenty of confidence as she looked firm to improve her position after getting off to a slow start in the opening round.
She parred the first four holes in a row and impressed the spectators at Virginia after she shot two straight birdies on the 5th and 6th hole. She, however, could not maintain her grip on the club on the 7th hole and failed to chip properly, carding a bogey.
On the back nine, the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) golfer looked quite nervous as she lost her momentum after registering a bogey on the 12th hole.
Commentators said that the rising American star could have done much better, but she missed plenty of good chances in the opening round. Lindley shot a 73 on Thursday.
Commentators also pointed out that the first round was hurt by bad light, which troubled many players in the roster.
South Korean Jiyai Shin dominated the leaderboard in the first two rounds as she posted an overall 130 to seize the lead.
Other star performers include Paula Creamer of the United States, who carded a total score of 132 to stand tied for the third position. Creamer is likely to boost her position in the third round.
Speaking to the media at the end of the second round, Lindley said that she is not happy with her performance at the ongoing tournament, but overall, playing pro golf has been an amazing experience for her.
“I didn't know what I would really feel like going into today, really the week.  I think I've had a mix of emotions, obviously very bittersweet, but knowing that it's the right time for me,” said the American golfer, who is going to quit golf pretty soon.
“Obviously I was very tearful coming up 18.  I've been out here for 18 years and I've grown up out here and this has been my family for so long and it's been a big chunk of my life, but I know that it's time but it doesn't make it any less sad”.
