Question:

Lethal self defense training ?

Does anyone know a self defense training course aimed strictly at disabling the opponent no matter what it takes? That is to say a strictly hand to hand combat training that teaches no art or rules. I was looking into Krav Maga but a lot of people are telling me that won't be good against other people who can fight as well, also its only good when you are being surprised and the opponent doesn't anticipate that you will fight back

  2. there are no magical techniques that will defeat an attacker regardless of their training. you will have to work hard no matter what approach you choose. anything that is or was military based is designed to teach defense methods using limited training time, and will definitely utilize lethal techniques, but they are only justified in certain extreme situations and you must have something lower on the escalation ladder for the majority of defense situations. krav maga is as useful in any situation as any style would be.

  4. Ever feel like people throw around terms without knowing what they mean?

Okay, so here's the deal. You're looking for a Fighting Method, not a martial art. There are a number of them: Krav Maga, KFM, Combat 56 (if you can find a teacher not teaching the sport aspect), etc. They art stripped down, but the point is to teach people to fight with minimal proficiency quickly. They are good, but should not be considered substitutes for full martial arts training. They are, for all intents and purposes, two different animals.

The fact is that when you limit your number of potential trained responses, you make yourself predictable. Martial arts teach you not to limit yourself to a set of rules, but rather to move and fight naturally with the improved techniques that you train in.

    Good luck.

  5. Japanese Jiu-jitsu I'd suggest..
