Lets BAN Plasma TV's?

Question

Now that the EU have decided to ban patio heaters to save the planet from Global Warming and as climate scientists point out that a Plasma TV puts out far more CO2 than a patio heater, lets now ban them also.

In fact let’s ban:

Plasma TV's.

Heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

Flood lighting at sports grounds.

Lawn mowers.

Street lighting after mid-night.

ect,ect,ect.

Or should we just ban these morons from taking any decisions on our behalf at the EU?

Well, since they are forcing us to go to a digital signal in February 2009, I'm not sure if it would be a good thing to ban the new TVs.

To me this is getting waaay out of hand and could have been avoided if electric companies were allowed to build Nuclear Power plants, until that happens anything electric, even those little electric cars (Which I doubt could hold up to Cold weather) are being powered by the electric companies we have now when they plug them in each night to recharge them. (So maybe we should ban them too.)

Edit: Lubylu - No use the old style lawn mower that doesn't run on gasoline, besides you get more of a workout benefit by using the old push mower.

A country cannot join the E.U.unless it is a democratic society.The internal stucture of the E.U. is not democratic ,therefor the E.U. could never join the E.U.!Global warming is most likely caused by the sun warming up abit as it does from time to time.Mars is coming out of an ice age,is my CO2 getting that far.Be warned E.U.if we are not paying for patio gas you wont be getting so much tax out of us,and if global warming is such a problem then why do we need patio heaters?We are not all blind to the idiocy of Brussels!

now now, plasma tv's; ok, lets ban them. but ALL pools are heated, and it's good exercise for children with the risk of obesity. sports games get alot of money for the economy, and you don't or can't always have the games in the day. lawn mowers? are we all supposed to have nasty lawns, or pet goats? and as for street lighting, what about the poor woman who works at the pub on her way home at midnight, who is raped and murdered right infront of the police station in pitch blackness; a crime which wouldn't happen if streetlights were on at that time.

I am all for a ban on Plasma TVs. Not only do they waste a lot of power, the HDTV types have a very short lifetime: 4 years as I understand it.

On top of that HDTV will encourage programme makers to produce programmes with pretty pictures rather than intelligent content. (why did films switch to wide screen format? because cinema owners found it easier to increase the width of their screens than to increase the height. It has nothing to do with viewing pleasure when translated to TV).

But please leave the petrol lawn mower alone. They may be inefficient, but they use very little fuel in a year.

No, don't ban them.  But do make them prohibitively expensive so that one has to feel the pinch more quickly for stupidity in consumption.

By the way, Fort Davis, Texas does not use street lights without special shielding, and outdoor lights for the yard and porch are prohibited.  I haven't heard of a crime wave there.
