Zabasearch and Intelius are 2 services that provide background check information. (Zabasearch is the free version, Intelius is the full featured background check that can also include criminal background check and credit check.)

However, neither of these services are much defense against fake id's.

You can probably get a private detective to do that for you.  There is one here locally that provides service starting at $15 depending on how much info you want.

Check the yellow pages, and start dialing.  I strongly recommend a face-to-face meeting with someone rather than these online services.
