The Attitude era has to be one of the most financially successful eras for WWE, it gave them more exposure, made more stars and gave them millions more in ratings.

But, they heavily relied on gimmick and spot monkey matches, depended on racy subjest storylines to appeal to the masses and made a mockery of technical wrestling from the past

What is your opinion?

  1. No. Wrestling always has to evolve. Times change. The athletes get better. Fans want something different to keep tuning to the shows or watch the live events. It's a soap opera pretty much. Each character has a personality. They use that personality to get a cheer or a boo. It's the same with any other sport. In MMA people have to have mulitple forms of martial arts. In baseball, they have people who pitches a certain style or in football they have new formations and plays. In music, there are new songs and such. It's a way to keep it fresh.

  2. Yea I'd have to agree. People complain about how we have to many gimmick matches and spot monkeys. But then they praise the Attitude Era. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.................

  3. I think it was overrated. I  have been watching wrestling on and off since i was 5 years old in 1990 and have to say the attitude era was the worst thing the wwe has ever done. That's when i stopped watching wrestling because the wrestling was terrible and they talked for 90 percent of the show. I just started watching wrestling a few months ago and have to say its nice to see them focusing on the wrestling part more.

  4. To me I dont think there is one era in wrestling that was the best, every era had its best and worst moments. The 80s Hogan era had great wrestling but then look at some of the ****ty childish gimmicks they had. The 90s had great storylines but the wrestling wasnt the best. I dont think one era can dominate over another, its just personal prefenence and what you enjoyed watching most and most probably what era you grew up watching.

    Thats just my two cents.

  5. things change over time so yeah i liked the attitude era it was kinda a new period in pro wrestling nd i agree some times they did have spot monkey matches but it was pretty entertaining to see all the classic feuds like the rock and stone cold i loved the attitude era personally but people like to see controversy and the attitude era had a whole lot and today WWE doesn't have as entertaining story lines  but i still watch it because i just love to see a wrestling match good or bad really but i also enjoy a good feud
