  1. compared to who....Steve cauthen won the triple crown in 1978 on affirmed, then lost his bug and lost 125 races in a row when he came out west to ride at Santa Anita, i saw him get affirmed beat in the Malibu stakes on opening day, they then took him off the great affirmed and put the great pincay on him and he won 10 in a row. talamo is getting a lot of live mounts...because a trainer can get a break in the weights, look at martin Garcia he out rode the king Mr. baze up north, but does he win like that anymore...no way...and as far a leparoux he had many wins in France before he came here, so he really was not a true apprentice, who would ride you horse in a million dollar race talamo or garret Gomez, i rest my case...good luck..

  2. I think he's proving he can compete and win at any track and against any competition.  He's patient and from what I've seen of him (never live) he looks like he has the tools, and hopefully he can mature into a premier rider in N.A.  Leparoux I think is turning into one of the best riders out there he has amazing patience for a young rider, time will tell how good he turns out to be.  I will add that it's unfortunate that the bugs loose some of their business once they turn into a journeyman, as an owner I don't care how much weight I'm getting off, if the kid can't ride I don't want him on my horse, if a bug rides and does well on my horses with the allowance, they have them without the allowance.  It makes me questions trainers who flip from bug to bug, a good rider can make up for 5 pounds, but 5 pounds can't make up for a bad bug.
