Question:

Letter suggestions to reconnect with a friend from college?

I had a dream last night about a friend of mine from college (I just graduated 2 months ago). He and I were simply just friends (good serious friends), but the dream was a little different. I am currently engaged. Is it wrong of me to catch up with a male friend, I know it will not go any further than friendship. What should I say in the email, I can't say hey I had a dream about you last night, that would be creepy? Any suggestions on what to write is appreciated. I really think he will turn out to be really good professionally to keep in contact with, I don't want to miss out.

  1. Just say you were reminiscing about some good times and wanted to see what he was up to.

    "Hey Bob,

I was just reminiscing the other day about some fun times we had back in college and I wanted to see how you're doing.  What have you been up to?  Did you get that job you wanted?

I'm engaged now and working in blahblahblah.

    Hope everything's good with you.

    Let's stay in touch!"

  2. It's fine I think. Just say, "Hey, how have you been? I was thinking these past couple of days that it's a shame we've lost contact these past few months. I would love to get together and catch up."

Don't mention the dream, but it's not creepy if you put it like that.

  3. Just drop him a quick line. Tell him your engaged if he didn't already know and ask him what's been up with. Since you think he will be a good professional contact talk some business with him too.
