  1. high level!

i'm italian and naples it's like an other cities, not part of our country.. it's like they have other laws..

i hope that our new government will do somethig to solve it

  2. I live in Tuscany now, but have visited Naples.  My boyfriend (an Italian native) would not allow me to wear jewelry or carry a purse while there.  He had to attend a meeting which left me alone for several hours during which he gave me strict instructions due to the danger of crime.  In addition we were staying with two friends who live in the very nicest part of Naples; they too spoke of the dangers.  The man recalled a time that he was driving the streets of Naples (as a native- knew the area well) stuck in traffic as usual (I have never in my life seen such a mess of traffic) and his car was approached by two men, one of whom broke his driver's side window with a hammer and stole his watch right off his arm with physical force.  They have also had their home broken in to.

If you travel there, the advice I have received from Italians is do not wear any jewelry, do not carry a purse if you can avoid it, do not stop to speak to anyone trying to hand out fliers or sell stuff in the streets.  Be very aware of the people around you at all times.

  3. i live in Naples and i was born in Milan i traveled all around the world (lived in new york 3 years and in Turks and cacos islands 2 years) and i must say that Naples is the most beautiful city i ever saw...as in Ali city's there is a high level of crime but only in some areas (even in new york there are some areas where there is lots of crime such as Bronx)..."its not a dangerous city" like some people say... its a wonderful city and everyone should come to Naples visit  just one adivce do not were any kind of important watch (rolex ecc)  !!!!!forza napoli......!

  4. I know around the bus  and public transportation areas can be bad.....Don't know about the rest of the city. Use normal precautions and you should be ok.

  5. As in any city there is going to be crime, depending on where u go some more than others. I rank it  like New York city since I have visited Naples many times and nothing ever happened, went to New York and got mugged. So, I guess it's just  all depends.

  6. I hate Naples. I absolutely, completely love the rest of Italy, but I had a horrible time in Naples. I was just 13 then & I got harassed so much. It wasn't like "bella, bella!" sweet-natured attention. It was grab-your-*** (once again 13!!!) harassment. After a guy stopped his moped right in front of me & asked "do you wanna suck *******?" I went back to the hotel & stayed there watching The OC & MTV. I would never want my little sisters to go there.

One friend got her camera stolen & the other got his iPod stolen. It sucked for us all. We were like hallelujah! when we moved on to Amalfi (which is bella, bella, bella!)

I'm a tall (even then), fair-skinned, blonde girl w bright eyes, so I stood out waaaay more than like a middle age man or even just a grown woman would. So, I don't mean to scare you away or anything. But....just be super careful if you go......

  7. Well, my sister-in-law and her husband live in Milan. We went to go visit for 3 weeks and I talked about wanting to go to Naples and all my brother-in-law(an Italian native)  would talk about is the crime and how you will get your pocket picked if you go. He said the crime rate is pretty high, but I do not know officially.
