Kay we bought an intex ultra frame pool which is 16' and 4' deep but our yard is on a slight tilt how can we level the ground? Perferably cheaply (we just paid alot of money on it).

Intex says not to use sand to level the pool what can we do instead(CHEAPLY)

  1. Build a small retaining wall on the low end of the yard were the pool will be and level it

    off with dirt.

  2. Can you rent a rear tine rototiller?  Till up the dirt on the high end and move it  (don't use it to level up because it wont be compacted).  That's what we did and then we placed a underlayment after we made sure it was level to prevent any stones from possibly penetrating the liner.   Once you have the water in the pool it becomes heavy enough to sink down a bit and possibly get to some stones.

The link below has one of the better prices they have a 15x15 for $53

Geotextile fabric that will protect your pond liner from any sharp rocks, glass and even against burrowing animals that can damage a liner.

  3. Do not try to build UP the low points.  Instead, you need to cut into the ground, into the slope.  It's labor intensive, but you can defintely do it with shovels and hoes, and then be sure it's true by running strings across the space, and having someone hold a lever to the string, and keep whittling away the high side until you have level ground.

  4. Hey we are actually going through the same thing right now. We are going to do what Chris is saying. We have a lot of extra dirt in the front yard plus we found a lot of big rocks at a construction dump site (they let us have them). We are going to line the lower side of the pool about 8 inches away from he pool with big rocks, then fill it in with dirt to level it out. I guess we can keep in touch so I can let you know what works. Good luck.

  5. You can't get major landscaping done cheaply. You'd need to make the ground level by removing a ****-ton of dirt, then pouring sand (yes, use it.) to keep water from getting underneath it.
