Leverkusen assure Dutt of a long-term future
Bayern Leverkusen Chairman Wolfgang Holzhauser has assured the manager of his job and is targeting a top-four finish at the end of the season.
Werkself have had a mixed season this far and are sixth on the Bundesliga standings table with 26 points, 11 points behind leaders Bayern Munich. Robin Dutt has been under scrutiny from the club fans recently who were expecting
a title challenge this time around after a runner-up finish last term.
Holzhauser insisted that the manager is safe and has assured the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SC-Freiburg-c40462 boss of a long-term future at the club. He admitted that finding a replacement for Jupp Heynckes was always going to be difficult but is confident
that the club has made the right choice in appointing Robin Dutt.
The chief claimed that Dutt has been unfortunate with a number of injuries in his first six months in-charge at the club. He added that the lack of success would surely anger the fans as there had been high expectations at the
start of the season.
“When I say that the coach is assured of his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684, then I don't mean that only in the mid-term, but also long-term. Questions are always going to be asked of the coach when the success is not quite how you would imagine it, but
we made a good choice with Robin Dutt,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Holzhauser is targeting a place in the UEFA Champions League at the end of the season and has admitted that the club needs a much better second-half of the campaign to achieve that feat.
“Our aim from the beginning, after finishing fourth two seasons ago and second last season, is that we consolidate our position and reach the Champions League. The Champions League is the aim and you have got to set targets,” he
concluded.
Bayern Leverkusen will be seeking revenge against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/1-FSV-Mainz-05-c38166 in their next Bundesliga fixture at the BayArena on Sunday, January 22. Werkself suffered a shock 2-0 loss on the opening day of the new season at the Coface Arena Sami
