The Bayer Leverkusen CEO is unhappy with Jupp Heynckes on making their interest in Bender public even though they declared that the player is not for sale.
TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen chairman Wolfgang Holzhauser expressed his discontent at Jupp Heynckes. This was in effect to the confirmation from the Bavarians giants about their interest in the defensive midfielder publicly.
The FC Hollywood outfit showed keen interest in the German international’s services before inquiring about Bender's availability. Die Roten’s official request to sign the player was rejected. The reason stated by the BayArena team
was that the young starlet was not up for sale as Bayer had long term plans for the stalwart.
Both parties were in agreement to keep the negotiations confidential and avoid giving any statements regarding the situation. But Heynckes went back on his word when he declared that Bender was a good prospect, it resulted to the
dismay of the Holzhauser.
Holzhauser made it clear that he did not want to be at loggerheads with Die Bayern. He further said that he was shocked by Heynckes attitude regarding his star player. The Leverkusen supremo told that the statement by Der FCB coach
has infuriated him beyond belief.
"I don't want any trouble with Bayern, but I'm very surprised and upset with Heynckes' comments about Bender," Holzhauser was quoted saying in an interview.
He stated that Bayern approached the Werkself team the previous week but were told immediately that the club wanted to retain the holding midfielder. It was made clear to them that the player won’t leave under any circumstance.
An arrangement was also agreed to keep this concealed along with the condition of not seeking talks with Bender or his representatives.
"Bayern made an approach for Lars last week, but I told them right away that we will not let him leave. We agreed not to make this public, and they would not approach the player," he concluded.
The German national team member is only 23-years-old and is contracted to Leverkusen until 2017. He has made an impressive 72 appearances, scoring 8 goals for his club.
