Bayer Leverkusen chairman Wolfgang Holzhauser has hinted that Andre Schurrle could still leave for Chelsea this summer.
The London giants attempted to sign the German international from Bayer Leverkusen but the Bundesliga side turned down an offer in excess of 16 million pounds. Werkself had revealed earlier this week that Chelsea were willing to
pay heavily for the winger but refused to sell their prized asset as they want to keep their key players for next season.
Holzhauser claimed that although his side declined the offer from Chelsea, nothing can be said as of yet. He admitted that personally he does not want the player to leave this summer as the club are willing to build a team around
the talented midfielder.
The chief added that his side did consider the offer and there is still a chance that the London giants may return with an improved one. However, the chairman does not feel that his side may be able to get an adequate replacement
in such a short span of time. He considers that 21-year old a world-class player and insists that it would be almost impossible to find a player who can settle in quickly before the season starts.
“I am not keen on ruling anything out at any point in time, but personally I have laid this topic to full rest last weekend. Of course, we have seriously considered the offer. We did. Still we came to the conclusion we would be
unable to sign an adequate and affordable replacement for Andre Schurrle,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.

Schurrle has thus far made 31 league appearances for Bayer Leverkusen and has scored seven goals in the process. The player has impressed Joachim Low at the domestic stage and has been a regular part of the national squad since
2010. He has 16 caps for Die Mannschaft and has found the net on seven occasions.
