Levski Sofia announce the appointment of Georgi Ivanov as their new coach - Bulgarian football news
The Bulgaria-based club, Levski Sofia, has confirmed the appointment of Georgi Ivanov as their new coach. The former Bulgarian International has replaced Yasen Petrov as the manager. This would be Ivanov’s second stint with the club as he has already managed
the Blues in the 2009/10 season.
Sofia officials believe that Ivanov was the best option as he possesses all the abilities which could help the club regain their lost position at the top. Ivanov would also hold the position of the sporting director at the club. Levski Sofia Chairman, Todor
Batkov, expressed his delight at the appointment of the Bulgarian and insisted that this was the best move keeping in mind the club’s inability to win any silverware this season.
The announcement came in the wake of Levski’s 3-0 victory over Montana in their last game of the campaign. The final whistle signalled the end of Petrov’s era, bringing the 34-year-old back in the hot seat. The manager mentioned that his utmost priority
will be to lead the club to the title and if he does not achieve this target, he would leave the club with immediate effect.

Levski Sofia are undoubtedly the best club in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bulgaria-c2861 with 26 titles to their name. They have also been the winners of the Bulgarian Cup as many times. The Blues have not managed to win any silverware since 2009 and Ivanov would certainly want to break
that streak when the team comes out again for the upcoming 2011/12 season.
As a player, Ivanov had four different spells with Sofia and the 34-year-old had fantastic runs each time. The best of his spells came during his five-year stay at the club (1997-2002) where he managed 115 League appearances, netting in 70 goals.
The Sofia-based club finished second in this year’s campaign and would hope to lift their 27th crown under Ivanov the next season.
