The striker has been plying his trade at Estadio Jose Alvalade after parting ways with Parma in the summer of 2011. Known for his feisty reputation, Valeri Bojinov has had mixed fortunes in Lisbon.
Although not first choice due to the presence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricky-van-Wolfswinkel-c31131, the 25-year-old has been used by Domingos Paciencia whenever the Dutch International hasn’t been able to play.
However his status at the club has completely changed after the game against Moreirense. Sporting were tied 1-1 in the closing stages of the game but they managed to win a penalty late on through Jeffren Suarez.
Matias Fernandez stepped up to take the spot-kick but was roughly cast aside by Valeri Bojinov, who insisted on taking it despite the pleas from his teammates. The Bulgarian listened to no one and missed the penalty, thus drawing the game for the Lions.
Sporting Lisbon were outraged by actions and have now told the player that he not only faces disciplinary action but is banned from using any of the club’s facilities.
With his unwanted status at the helm, Levski Sofia have registered an interest in the former Manchester City man and their chairman has reiterated his admiration for the attacker.
Speaking to reporters, the superemo said that if the Domingos Paciencia was willing to let him go and if the player was willing to ply his trade in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bulgaria-c2861, then he would cough up the cash in order to secure his services.
"If the coach wants and if he is interested in playing for Levski, then I'm willing to pay.”
He also added that he tried to sign the player on-loan when he was playing in the English Premier League, but his efforts went in vain.
"I like Bojinov and I tried to acquire him on loan two years ago when he played at Manchester City. However It did not work,” Todor Batkov was quoted as saying.
Although Sporting may have not been keen on letting the former Lecce man leave the club previously, given his recent actions, they may choose to part ways with him this winter and in Levski Sofia they have the ideal suitors.
