Lewin Nyatanga joins Peterborough
Peterborough United have signed Lewin Nyatanga from Bristol City on a one month loan deal.
The Welsh left back is expected to go straight into the Peterborough team in the left back or centre half position.
Peterborough manager Gary Johnson is in need of some strength in his defence as Posh have conceded eleven goals in their last four games.
Peterborough are in fifth position in League One, but they have lost their last couple of games and Nyatanga is seen as a short- term solution.
The Welsh international is also keen to play since he has found it difficult to claim a first team position following his return from injury. The player suffered a knee injury in a pre-season game against Blackpool in August.
"I need some games back-to-back to get back to my full sharpness. I'm finding it hard to get back in the [Bristol City] team and in the last few weeks the lads have been putting in some really good performances," said the 22-year-old Welsh defender.
Bristol City are currently bottom of the Championship, but they have had a number of good results in recent matches, including a 1-0 win over fellow league stragglers Middlesbrough and a 1-1 draw with league leaders QPR.
Bristol City manager Keith Millen hopes that the loan deal will improve the defenders fitness and match practice and allow him to compete for a central defensive position.
The Peterborough manager has come to a deal with his former club for Nyatanga who Johnson brought to Bristol City during his time as manager of the Championship side.
"Gary brought me to Bristol City and I know he has got faith in me," Nyatanga said.
"After playing against Peterborough last season I know their team is really good. They've kept a lot of their players so it's a good team to come in to and play," added the defender.
