Lewis Hamilton, Daniel Ricciardo to do demo runs prior to 2011 Indian Grand Prix – Formula 1
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton and Hispania Racing Team driver Daniel Ricciardo will both be doing a demonstration run ahead of the 2011 Indian Grand Prix scheduled for Sunday, October 30 at the Buddh International Circuit.
Lewis Hamilton, the 26-year-old driver will be driving a McLaren car just outside Bangalore on September 27.
This demo run is an effort to bring the Woking-based team to India prior to the Indian GP. Furthermore, the demo run is also aimed at increasing the race’s popularity and arouse interest amongst the masses of India about this sport. Hamilton will be enthralling
the fans on the Bangalore-Mysore road in the Karnataka region of India.
Following his run, Ricciardo will also be enthralling the Indians when he takes his car to the streets on October 1. Ricciardo will be driving around the famous Gateway of India in New Delhi.
This is the second time that a Red Bull car will be doing its demo run in India. David Coulthard, former Formula 1 driver from Scotland, was the first one to do a demo run in a Red Bull car in 2009 near Mumbai.
The organisers of the race have taken this initiative to promote the race prior to its official inauguration. This is the first ever race to be hosted by the subcontinent nation hence all efforts are being taken to make sure the race gets as much attention
as it can.
The Indian Grand Prix is expected to bring huge economic benefits to all its stakeholders. Experts believe that the race might generate up to 170 million US Dollars and generate employment opportunities for more than 10,000 people.
The Indian Grand Prix is scheduled for next month and is going to be the third last race of this season. Let’s see how the teams perform during this Grand Prix.
For the moment, the Formula 1 action will resume in Singapore at the Marina Bay Street Circuit this weekend. The race weekend begins September 23, 2011.
