Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button upbeat about McLaren’s comeback in the 2011 season – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button is confident about their chances in the 2011 Formula 1 season despite having a below par home race in Silverstone.
Both the British drivers stated that the team has the ability to bounce back and they will be in the fight soon again in the ongoing championship battle.
Button stated that the McLaren team has always won races in Formula 1 and will not give up hope that easily on the 2011 title. He added that the team will be strong soon after a bad show in the Silverstone Grand Prix.
Hamilton also added that the morale of the McLaren team is high and together the British team will bounce back in championship battles.
A lot was expected from the McLaren team in the Silverstone race but the team was not up to the task. Delayed pit-stops, wrong strategies and low fuel load made up for one of the worst races for McLaren in Silverstone where Hamilton managed a nail-biting
fourth and Button retired after a loose tyre.
Still the team is evenly poised in the constructors’ championship battle in second place but the duo has to make some ground in the drivers’ table as both drivers are out of the top three positions.
However, both Hamilton and Button are confident that McLaren will bounce back.
“It is a very, very competitive formula, F1. If it was easy then great, but it is not. It is very competitive and every year they have won races since I have been in F1. That is pretty amazing. It is not where the team want to be, but they will not give
up, they will fight and they will come back strong,” commented Button.
Hamilton added, “We are a team and we will pull through it. Through experience we have been one of the only teams that has been able to bounce back from situations like this. We will pull back and regroup.”
