Lewis Hamilton: Suzuka will suit McLaren at the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren-Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton recently stated that the Suzuka circuit of the 2011 Japanese Grand Prix will suit their team.
The Brit is very confident that he will be able to put up a great show at the Suzuka circuit.
Hamilton said, “As for the race itself, I think Suzuka will play to my strengths: it’s a track that really requires you to drive in an attacking way to be able to get a good lap time. It’s an uncompromising place. But that’s when the thrill of driving a
Formula 1 car is at its highest; when you know you can’t afford a single mistake and where driving on the absolute limit is the only way to get the best time.”
The weather of Japan does not worry the 24-year-old so much at the moment. He is just too excited about racing at the Suzuka track, which he deems very suitable for the McLaren team.
The Suzuka track is a high-speed track, and has a unique touch to it, bearing similarities to the Monaco circuit.
“Suzuka is another reasonably high downforce track, which should play to our strengths. The weather in Japan in the autumn is always unpredictable, we’ve seen before that it can be beautifully sunny and hot or extremely cold and wet,” Hamilton added.
Hamilton’s performance during the current Formula 1 season has been a mixed one.
His best performances during the season have been during the Chinese and German Grands Prix where he came out successful both times.
He currently sits at the 5th position on the drivers’ championship with 168 points to his credit.
In the recently held Singapore race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the Brit finished off the race in the 5th position after starting 4th from the grid.
The McLarens have a very good car to take to Suzuka, and even though Red Bull Racing team still appears to be in a dominant position, the Woking-based team is still hopeful of out-pacing the Red Bulls.
Let’s see how Hamilton performs for his team at the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix which is scheduled to take place this weekend, October 7-9 at the Suzuka circuit.
