Lewis Hamilton: We are in good position for 2012 Chinese Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton thinks that they are in a good position, regardless of his five-place grid penalty, for 2012 Chinese Grand Prix which is going to be held at Shanghai International Circuit on Sunday.
Nico Rosberg of Mercedes AMG dominated the qualifying of the race in China while Hamilton set the second best time of 1 minute and 35.626 seconds. However, he will start the race from seventh position on the grid because of his penalty.
Nevertheless, the Briton expressed that he is positive for the season ahead and will try to perform at his best in the race.
“We're in a good position I think,” Hamilton said in the post-race press conference. “I made some good setup changes to the car; it feels good, particularly for the long runs. So it's going to be tough, for sure, I've got a lot of good drivers ahead of me
but I'll be pushing as hard as I can.”
Furthermore, he also admired Rosberg for his amazing performance in the final session of the qualifying.
“A big congratulations to Nico, it's fantastic and really done in style - there's quite a big gap between us. I'm very proud of him, obviously we grew up together, racing together and we always dreamed of being in Formula One,” said Hamilton.
Hamilton has been seen quite consistent in his performances in the season so far. He has secured third podium finish and two consecutive poles in the opening two races held at Albert Park in Melbourne and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
Besides, he said that he has targeted on scoring reasonable points in each and every race in the season ahead while he said that to perform with consistency is the key for winning the championship title.
It will be important to mention that Hamilton struggled during the last season mainly because he was unable to keep a balance between his personal and professional life.
Nonetheless, he said that he is prepared to make the necessary sacrifice in his personal life this year so as to give due attention to his F1 career.
