Lewis Hamilton admits mistake with the set-up of his car at Japanese qualifiers – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren was only able to make it at the 9th position of the qualifying round of Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka circuit. He told that he made a mistake with the set-up of his car however he did not lose confidence.
The British driver told that he was facing understeer problem in the free practice session 2. They tried to fix the problem but were unable to do so rather it went worse. They were not left with any other solution therefore they tried to improve it for the
qualifiers but were unable to achieve their targets.
He said, “I'm not puzzled, I just made a big mistake with the set-up; a big, big mistake. When the qualifying starts you can't do anything to change it so you're stuck with it. So we were just driving around with masses and masses of understeer which we
had in P2 and we made some changes in to P3 but it went the opposite way, it went to oversteer. We didn't really know what to do so we went back to the set-up yesterday and made a couple of small changes to it but it was a disaster.”
Hamilton further added that he does not expect anything better with his car however he will try his best to get most out of it during the race. He anticipates that his front tyres will be problematic area in the following day as the car is struggling with
understeer. He added that he will push as much as he could on the race day as their can is in Parc Ferme.
Furthermore, the McLaren driver believes that he will be able to get some points during the race. Only top ten drivers are awarded with points in Formula 1 sport.
Let’s see how the British driver performs in the upcoming race. It will be interesting to watch the race because Hamilton has recently signed a contract to replace Michael Schumacher of Mercedes for the next 2013 season however we anticipate it to be a safe
race because due to understeer he may find problems in controlling his car over the circuit.
