Lewis Hamilton aims to strike back in his 100th race at Hockenheim – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is aiming to strike back in 2012 German Grand Prix which is to be held at Hockenheimring on July 22.
Hamilton struggled with the lack of race pace in the British GP held at Silverstone Circuit and could only secure 8th place finish after taking a start from the same grid slot. Nevertheless, he is not feeling disappointed over the uncompetitive
result of the last race and is targeting to come up stronger in the forthcoming race.
Moreover, it will be very interesting to mention that he will be taking part in his 100th race in Germany and is feeling very much excited about it.
The 2008 world champion asserted that he is focussing on attaining some good points in the season ahead while he expressed that he is highly motivated to participate in the German GP.
“I was quick to get over our disappointing weekend at Silverstone, running with the Olympic flame on the day after the race and then quickly turning my full attention to Hockenheim,” Hamilton said. “Unbelievably, next weekend will mark my 100th grand prix.
That's incredible, because I still remember my first as if it were only yesterday - I guess Formula 1 has that effect on you!
He added, “It must have been incredible battling round that track with the minimal downforce, locked in a slipstreaming battle with another car and waiting for just the right moment to pounce and overtake”.
The British driver is undeniably one of the most talented drivers in the field and is surely one of the most favourite contenders in this year’s fight for the championship title.
Presently, he is standing at fourth place in the drivers’ rankings with 92 points. Additionally, he is 8 points behind the defending champion, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing and is 9 points ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus.
Furthermore, he has claimed victory in the Canadian GP and has secured three third podium finishes in the season so far. Above and beyond, it will be very interesting to see how he performs in the approaching season.
