Lewis Hamilton aims to win with Mercedes – Formula 1 News
Lewis Hamilton has claimed that he will not be satisfied until he secures a victory in the 2013 Formula 1 season with Mercedes.
The Briton had left McLaren at the end of the previous season in order to join the German squad but his move was criticised widely. Despite that, he remained focussed
and proved everyone wrong with some solid performances this year.
Hamilton secured his third podium finish of the season in Canada but is yet to beat his rivals to the top. Therefore, he said, “I don't settle for anything but
the best, and wins. This was a good weekend, an okay weekend, but I still haven't got a win. Nico [Rosberg] has won a race, so I need to get a win.”
Although the 2008 world champion looked to be the better of the two Mercedes drivers this season, his performances came down to a certain extent after the first
three races. As a result, he was unable to make a strong impression in Monaco, where his team-mate brought up the team’s first victory of the year.
However, things changed for the 27-year-old in Montreal, as he was able to fight for a podium once again. Despite being a bit frustrated due to lack of victories,
he was happy with the overall progress of the team.
Looking at the result of the Canadian GP, he added, “There are positives to take away from the weekend. It's positive in the sense the team is up to third in the
constructors. I'm happy I can get those points for the team because they are working so hard and we're doing a lot better than I ever expected when I joined the team, so I definitely can't complain. But I want to win.”
Although Mercedes have shown some very good form over the past couple of rounds, the team has come under immense pressure because of the private test conducted
with the tyre manufacturers Pirelli.
Hamilton insisted that the test in Barcelona was not the reason behind his team’s solid performances in Monaco and Canada, but this might not save the Brackley
based squad from facing some heavy penalties by the sport’s governing body FIA.
