Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button ready to backlash all the rivals
The McLaren duo Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button look forward to an exciting new season. The 2009 champion, Button told the reporters that he feels really competitive this season, perhaps more than ever. Similarly, the 2008 champion, Hamilton insists that
he has never been as optimistic ahead of a Formula 1 season as he is now.
The British pair was present at the launching ceremony of the McLaren car, MP4-26 earlier today. The team had been one of the last teams to launch the upcoming season’s package. Now, only Force India and HRT are left to unveil their next cars. McLaren has
ran its last year’s interim version at the first pre-season test session at Valencia earlier this week.
The team management, both the drivers and media from all across the globe was present at the unveiling ceremony of the car. At the request of the official sponsor of the team, Vodafone the ritual took place in Berlin, Germany.
Both the team drivers expressed immense joy and contentment for the car believing that the battle they lost narrowly last year will be won this season. Until the second last race of the 2010 season, both Button and Hamilton remained as strong contenders
of the title while Hamilton only lost the tug at the last race, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Finally, the season was wrapped at 4th place by Hamilton while Button chased him for 5th. Similarly, the team also lost the constructors' championship at the second last race as Red Bull grabbed its first title leaving the British squad
at second place.
Now, as the team is ready to begin the tug one again, Button told the media, "I've had some fun years in Formula One - some good, some bad, and I think the competitiveness now is the best it ever has been. You have five world champions on the grid but also
other drivers who have been close in the past, like Mark Webber or Felipe Massa. There is lots of competition and I hope it's a good fight.”
Similarly, the 26-year-old Hamilton added, "We should have a more competitive season. We are pushing as hard as we can to be even more competitive than we were last season. I do feel optimistic."
When the reporters asked for the affect of the delayed launch, Button assured that the extra time spent on development of the car will be helpful to them. He agreed that they have lost some valuable test time but he insisted that the extra time spent on
refining of the package will serve them well.
