Lewis Hamilton anticipating to bring MP4-26 on the track
The McLaren driver, Lewis Hamilton is already happy with what he sees in the team’s factory. MP4-26, the team’s car to be used for the 2011 season seems pretty lovable to the driver as he proclaims that he is already impressed with the development steps
and is dying to take it on the track.
The British driver spent an entire day with the simulator at McLaren’s Woking factory this Monday for the initial virtual tests. While talking about the car now Hamilton says that the machine looks pretty interesting to him and especially the return of the
KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) next season, makes him very excited. He further believes that the rules of adjustable rear wings are going to make the sport even more thrilling for it allows more overtaking on the track.
Hamilton addressed his fans through his official twitter account saying, "Lots of neat ideas and improvements... First time driving the new car and I was happy. KERS and rear wing is tricky but felt right at home with it. Our KERS is the best. It shud (should)
deliver."
McLaren has already used the system in 2009 although they were not able to lay their hands on any of the championships. On the other hand, the winner of both, the drivers’ as well as the constructors’, championship of 2009 season, Brawn GP did not use the
system. Despite the frustration the British team under went all through the season, it was largely believed that the team possesses the most efficient system on the grid.
Hamilton's current teammate, Jenson Button, the winner of 2009 championship under the Brawn GP umbrella , is also very excited for KERS as he has not used it ever before. Earlier this week the British driver proclaimed that he faced a very tough time during
his championship season due to McLaren’s system. He is now looking forward for a very strong season ahead with the team expecting their next package to be very strong and competitive.
While talking to the media Button expressed, "I've never driven with KERS before but this team used KERS last year and used it well. I know because they kept coming by me at the start! They have so much experience in that area that I think we'll have an
advantage, as will Mercedes and Force India who use Mercedes engines.”
He believes that the upcoming season is going to see McLaren faster than their bitter rivals of this season, Red Bull and Ferrari.
