Lewis Hamilton asserts McLaren getting stronger race by race – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that although they faced difficulties in few races in the 2012 Formula 1 season so far but they are getting stronger and stronger race by race in the championship fight.
Hamilton said that they failed to score competitive points during the opening few races as they struggled with some operational issues and technical problems in the car.
Moreover, he said that they have got the most competent car in the field with which they could have scored even more points if they had not made some critical errors. Nevertheless, he said that they are not getting upset over their lack of pace in few grands
prix as they have learned a lot from their mistakes.
"We lost a lot of points at the beginning. We were on the front row in the first seven or eight races where we should have won all of them. Barcelona, we really could have won that, we had the best car that weekend. But you know we learn from those experiences
and that's what life is about,” the Briton said.
In addition, he said that they are improving their performance with the passage of time and have become stronger with their substantial developments in the season until now. He also said that they are going to continue their aggressive development process
in the remaining seasons and are hoping to come up even stronger in the forthcoming races.
"We're in a very, very strong position, we're getting stronger and we will get stronger through the rest of this year," he added.
Presently, the 2008 world champion is standing at second place in the drivers’ championship with 142 points. Besides, he is ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and Red Bull Racing drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.
Even though, he is quite behind the current leader in the standings, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, nonetheless, he is positively looking forward to close the gap in the upcoming races.
Over and above, he said that he is focussing to win this year’s championship title and is striving at his best to achieve his target.
