Lewis Hamilton believes McLaren can fix the reliability issues – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton is hopeful that his team will be successful in resolving the reliability issues ahead of the final two races of the 2012 Formula 1 season.
Hamilton performed amazingly well in the qualifying of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and effectively managed to secure the pole position for the race. Later on, he had a convincing start in the race but due to fuel pressure failure, he was retired.
The British driver has faced the reliability problems in many races in the season so far due to which he lost some crucial points in the championship fight and his hopes for winning the title faded.
Nevertheless, he is not feeling disappointed and is confidently looking forward to perform well in the remaining two races of the current season. Furthermore, he has full faith that his team will fix the ongoing issues.
“We've had a lot of failures in the last five races, so reliability has been a big issue for us, but I've no doubts the team can fix them,” he told The Telegraph.
In addition, he said that they need to work very hard so as to make the necessary step-ups in their car in order to attain competitive results in the last two races.
“The last four or five races we've had something fail on the car, even when we've managed to finish the race. Hopefully luck will swing our way in the last two races,” he said. “You keep your head up, you keep going. The guys back at the factory shouldn't
be disheartened. We all need to work harder.”
Even though, he said that he deserved to win the previous race as he had the most competent car in the field but the fuel pump problem gave him away. Nonetheless, he said that he has learned a lot from the incident and is targeting to hit back in the races
ahead.
“It was still a good weekend for me,” the Briton added.
It will be interesting to see how the 2008 world champion performs in the remaining two grands prix of the ongoing season.
