Lewis Hamilton believes McLaren need to keep on working hard – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton believes that they still need to keep on working hard to make the necessary step ups regardless of winning the 2012 Hungarian Grand Prix.
Hamilton claimed his third pole position of the current season and completely dominated throughout the race at Hungaroring in Budapest. The Briton scored his second win of the season and successfully closed the gap to the current leader, Fernando Alonso
of Ferrari.
Furthermore, after struggling in the last few grand prix, the British driver expressed his delight on taking victory in the Hungarian GP. Moreover, he said that they still have a long way to go to win the championship title as all the other contenders are
pushing really hard.
In addition, he said that although they faced issues during the last few races, however, they have made strike back well and have proved their presence in the battle for this season’s championship battle.
"We've still got a good gap; Fernando and the Lotuses are really quick, the Red Bulls are still quick, we've got to keep working," Hamilton said. "We've got to now take a step back and know that we've got to do some work; we've still got to improve but we've
proved this weekend that it's still all to play for."
Besides, he said that it is very crucial to keep the focus in the game while he said that he had a strong tussle with Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus who secured an inspiring second podium finish in the preceding race.
"I had Kimi behind who's a world champion and I'm a world champion. You've just got to remain 100% focused and I have been all year, so I was able to really put it out there and prove it today," he said.
Additionally, he said that they are feeling very happy with their progress in the season so far and are looking forward to enjoy the summer break.
At present, the 2008 world champion is standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 117 and is aiming to come up stronger to fight for the title after his summer smash.
