Lewis Hamilton believes Mercedes give more attention to driver – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that his new team gives more attention to its drivers as compared to McLaren.
Hamilton spent a long time at the Woking based squad and signed a new deal with the Silver Arrows during the last season for the 2013 Formula 1 season. He joined Mercedes as the replacement of Michael Schumacher who has retired from the sport. In addition,
he will be driving alongside his old friend, Nico Rosberg in this year.
The British driver has been deemed as one of the most talented drivers in the history of F1. Furthermore, he delivered some remarkable performances with McLaren and even claimed his one and only championship with them back in 2008. However, he has asserted
that he has received more attention in his new team as compared to the previous one.
He expressed that everyone in Mercedes is very keen and focussed to help the driver in improving his performance. Besides, he said that all the members of his team try their best to make him mentally and physically fit to compete well. He also said that
he is really enjoying his time and is looking forward to give his valuable input to make some significant developments in their car.
“We still have sponsors, we still have sponsors' appearances, we still have filming days, so there's not a huge difference in how they go about their business,” he said. “But the focus on the driver and the driver's performance and the driver being ready
for the job at hand is the one thing that I think is a little bit better here. They want me to be as ready as I can possibly be physically and mentally and they want to do everything possible to make sure everything is taken care of. That's something great
to experience.”
It will be interesting to mention that the Briton is not aiming to win the championship as he thinks that they are not in a position to challenge the top drivers and teams in this season. Therefore, he is only targeting to secure a position amongst the top
ten drivers in this year’s championship.
