Lewis Hamilton believes victory in British GP depends on upgrades – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton believes that victory in 2012 British Grand Prix which is to be held at Silverstone Circuit depends on the upgrades which they have planned for his car.
Hamilton could not score even a single point in the European GP at Valencia Street Circuit as he had a collision with Pastor Maldonado of Williams and came 19th in the race after setting off from second grid position. However, he is not disappointed
and is positively looking forward to perform well in the approaching season.
In addition, he said that they need to keep on making the necessary advancements and the significant preparations so as to improve the pace of their car in the upcoming races in order to make their position stronger in this year’s championship.
Besides, he said that they have planned to launch some major updates in the next race. Additionally, he said that they need some essential advancement as all the other contenders are making the best of the efforts to achieve competitiveness.
“We've got some upgrades coming,” Hamilton said. “We're going to need them because other teams have obviously been making some serious steps forward.”
He also said that they are bringing out the best in them to overcome the issues which they have faced in the last few grands prix.
“Our car doesn't seem to go so well on the lower speed circuits like Valencia, but I think on the higher speed circuits like Silverstone, we should be able to be more competitive there,” he said. “Trying to look after our tyres is our biggest problem so
hopefully there's a better chance with the new upgrades.”
The 2008 world champion is currently standing at 3rd place in the drivers’ championship with 88 points between the Red Bull Racing pair of drivers, Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. He has been one of the most consistent drivers in the season
so far as he secured third podium finish in the first three races.
Over and above, after winning the Canadian GP, he has been deemed as one of the most favourite drivers in the title chase.
