Lewis Hamilton claims an amazing pole position for 2012 Singapore Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has claimed an amazing pole position for the 2012 Singapore Grand Prix at Marina Bay Street Circuit.
Hamilton performed quite convincingly during the free practice of the Singapore GP and successfully secured a tremendous pole position for the race after showing an impressive pace in the qualifying.
The British driver was followed by Pastor Maldonado of Williams who performed terrifically well and secured second grid position for the race ahead.
Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing came third in the charts and remained ahead of Hamilton’s teammate, Jenson Button.
Although, the defending champion has remained dominant throughout the week in Singapore as he has topped the timesheets in all the three practice sessions and later stood ahead of everyone in the first two qualifying sessions. However, he couldn’t match the pace of the 2008 world champion in the final session.
The veteran German driver was followed by Fernando Alonso of Ferrari who is currently leading the drivers’ championship with 179 points.
Furthermore, the Spaniard stayed ahead of Paul di Resta of Force India who performed remarkably well and came 6th in the timesheets.
Vettel’s teammate, Mark Webber set the 7th best time in the last session of the qualifying and stood ahead of Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
Mercedes driver Michael Schumacher successfully made his way into Q3 and came 9th in the charts. Besides, the seven-time world champion was followed by his teammate, Nico Rosberg.
Rosberg remained ahead of Nico Hulkenberg of Force India who was further followed by Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus. Additionally, Raikkonen struggled with the lack of downforce and failed to make his way into final session.
Felipe Massa of Ferrari came 13th and was followed by Sergio Perez of Sauber. The Mexican driver stayed ahead of Toro Rosso pair of drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne.
Bruno Senna of Williams came 17th in the charts and remained ahead of Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber who was further followed by Caterham drivers, Vitaly Petrov and Heikki Kovalainen.
Above and beyond, Kovalainen was followed by Marussia drivers, Timo Glock and Charles Pic who stayed ahead of Narain Karthikeyan and Pedro de la Rosa of HRT.
