Lewis Hamilton considers trophies critically important for his future – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton has said that his future negotiations with the team will depend on whether he can keep his trophies or not.
Hamilton’s contract with the Woking based team is going to expire at the conclusion of this season and he has not started any conversations about the future until now. However, he has recently asserted that he will consider trophies crucial while talking
about his future with the team.
“Ron and team have all trophies in cabinet and drivers get replicas,” Hamilton said. “In a lot of other teams, drivers get their original trophies. As a racing driver, what you work for and what you want to take home are two things; one is your crash helmet
and other is your trophy. For me, they are priceless.”
In addition, he said that he doesn’t want any other conditions in his contracts. Nevertheless, he said that the next contract is very important for him.
“I don't care if they don't give me car, but those two things are what you put your blood and sweat into and they keep those at the moment. So whatever contract I'm having next, that is going to be push point,” he added.
Furthermore, he said that he believes there is no complexity in making up his mind for the agreement. Nonetheless, he said that he deems it as a vital decision of his professional career.
Besides, he said that wherever he will go, he will continue to provide his best to his team. He also said that he has learnt some great lessons to give his due attention to the sport during the last season in which he failed to keep a balance between his
personal and professional life.
At present, he is standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship. Additionally, he is ahead of Kimi Raikkonen of Lotus and is behind Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull Racing.
Although, he is still far behind the driver at the top of the rankings, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari, nevertheless, he is focussed to close the gap to the front in the upcoming race after the summer smash.
