Lewis Hamilton excited about his career’s 100th race at Hockenheim – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton of McLaren will be racing in his 100th grand prix at the upcoming German Grand Prix.
The British driver believes that it is an achievement for a driver to participate in his 100th GP and he is looking forward towards more races. Additionally, he said that the time in Formula 1 has been pleasant and passes quickly.
Moreover, he said that he had not realised his 10th, 20th or 50th grand prix, but he feels that the century of grands prix is something not to be ignored.
Hamilton said, “I didn't notice my 10th, my 20th, my 50th, or any of the others. It just went by so quickly. When you're having a good time, time flies by. And the years have gone by very quickly.”
He added, “I'm in my sixth year of Formula 1, that's insane. It feels like it's gone quicker than my Formula Renault years, Formula 3, and GP2. My six years in Formula 1 feels as long as my two years in F3.”
The experienced British racer has not been able to show consistent performance lately in the current season. In the British Grand Prix, he started and ended the race at the 8th place. In the European Grand Prix, he started from the 2nd grid position
and ended at 19. He won the Canadian Grand prix. In the Spanish Grand Prix, he was at the 24th grid position and finished at the race at the 8th position.
At the start of current season, Hamilton showed consistent performances by getting pole positions for the first two grands prix but he was only able to make it to the podium at the 3rd place.
In the third Chinese Grand Prix, he was able to make it to the podium, at the third place even though he had started at the 7th grid position.
The drivers for McLaren are Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton. The team holds fourth position in the constructors’ championship with 142 points. However, the competition for the third and second place in the season is very close, as Lotus are at 3rd position
in the constructors’ championship and hold 144 points, only 8 points less than Ferrari at second place.
