Lewis Hamilton expresses concern about Red Bull’s qualifying pace – Formula 1 news
Lewis Hamilton confessed his concern about Red Bull’s pace as both Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel qualified first and second respectively at the Korean Grand Prix.
Hamilton qualified third finishing just 0.2 seconds slower than Webber who has earned Red Bull a pole position after his incredible performance.
During the first free practice session, Hamilton had succeeded in setting the quickest pace but he came down considerably in the second session. He finished the session placed eighth. The third practice session was a successful one again as he reached the
second position just behind Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull.
Hamilton had been able to score the pole position for his racing team McLaren in Monza and Singapore but Red Bull has been the team to dominate both in Japan and Korea. Hamilton commented that Red Bull has definitely got “serious pace” and that has turned
out to be difficult for McLaren. He also added that Red Bull certainly owns the best car at present.
He said, “We're very close but they've got some serious pace. For us, maybe I had half a tenth in it today; I really ragged the life out of the car so I got absolutely everything out of it. But they were a couple of tenths ahead and Sebastian and Mark are
both saying they have a little bit more so you don't know whether or not they do but say it's two or three tenths that's quite a lot of time.”
Though Hamilton admits that Red Bull is ahead of them as far as car pace matters but he still is happy with his performance. He confessed about having a tough weekend referring to how they had been trying to make the best settings for the car and preparing
to take full advantage out of the tyres. He also added that it had been tough for a while during the race but they were lucky to complete a good lap at the end.
Hamilton is confident about his ability to compete with Webber and Vettel in the race. He is preparing in a way so that the team makes the right choices and avoids mistakes.
