Lewis Hamilton feels Fernando Alonso deserves championship title – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton feels that Fernando Alonso of Ferrari deserves to win the 2012 Formula 1 World Drivers’ Championship.
Alonso has performed amazingly well in the season so far even with a car which is quite incompetent as compared to the other contenders. Moreover, he has led the drivers’ rankings for a long time in the ongoing season. However, Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull
Racing has taken the lead over the Spaniard after claiming his third consecutive victory in the Korean Grand Prix and has become the out-and-out favourite in this year’s title fight.
Nevertheless, Hamilton has said that the 31-year-old has performed really well and he is worthy of winning the championship title. In addition, he said that even though the two-time world champion has not been the fastest driver on track but he has still
come a long way fighting for the title. Besides, he admired the performance of the Scarlet team which has worked tremendously well in the season until now.
“I feel like Fernando has deserved it throughout the year,” Hamilton said. “His team haven't made one mistake. He hasn't always been the fastest but he has been up there. He has driven like the champion he is all year and I feel as though he is a three-time
world champion. Red Bull have been more up and down but they have still done a great job. They have won the last three races.”
Additionally, he said that although he could only score a single point in the last race due to a technical problem in his car. Nonetheless, he said that he is not feeling upset over his poor result and is positively looking forward to perform well in the
remainder of the season so as to make his mark stronger in this year’s championship battle.
He also said that he is fully motivated in his team and is targeting to attain competitive results in the remaining four races of the current season to end up his career with the Woking based team on a high.
“I've never been distracted once this year. I'm still 100 per cent in this team to the last minute,” the Briton added.
