Lewis Hamilton feels confident for 2012 F1 Championship title – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton admits that he has missed out the opportunity to score some crucial points in the first two races of the season.
However, he feels confident while being in the fight for 2012 Championship title.
Hamilton had secured two consecutive pole positions in the season opener at Albert Park in Melbourne, Australia and Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia.
However, the British driver could not be able to convert his poles into victories in both the races which were claimed by his teammate, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso of Ferrari.
Moreover, he said that he could not take the lead at Sepang because of the issues of pit stops and wet track while Alonso and Sergio Perez of Sauber took the first two podium positions.
Nevertheless, he expressed that the team was pleased with his performance so far and was looking forward to make the best possible use of its resources for making the significant advancements and the substantial preparations for the races ahead.
“I should have 50 points, but I don't,” Hamilton said. “Yeah, we would love to have 20 points more, but at least we've had consistency and we're there in the fight. We should be proud of ourselves. The team have done a fantastic job to get us where we are.
We've been the quickest in qualifying in both races, so there are many positives to take, rather than looking at the negatives.”
Furthermore, he said that his focus was to perform with consistency throughout the season ahead and to make himself able to score points in every race.
In addition, he said that he would bring out the best in him for the next two races.
“So I'm massively excited ahead of the next two races and I'm going to go and prepare the best way I can,” said Hamilton.
He added that he needed to enhance his pace on track in order to be more competent.
It would be important to mention that Hamilton had said that he was ready to make the needed sacrifice in his private life this season as compared to the preceding one in which he struggled because he could not manage to keep the balance between his personal
and professional life.
