Lewis Hamilton feels confident for 2012 F1 season ahead – Formula 1 news
McLaren driver Lewis Hamilton believes that he will soon be able to achieve victory in 2012 Formula 1 season ahead as his team is making the best of the efforts to develop a race winning car.
Hamilton is presently standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 63 points. Moreover, he is 4 points ahead of Nico Rosberg of Mercedes and 10 points behind Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing.
Furthermore, he has emerged as one of the most consistent drivers in the season so far as he secured third podium finish in the first three races. However, he faced difficulties in two of the last three grands prix with the poor pit stop strategy due to
which he lost some crucial time and could not convert his competitive grid position into a podium finish.
In addition, even though he topped the timesheets in the qualifying of the Spanish GP but started the race from the end of the grid as he failed to meet the minimum fuel requirement before moving back to the pit. Nonetheless, he still managed to secure 8th place
finish in the race.
Regardless of the ongoing issues, the 2008 world champion said that he is feeling confident for the forthcoming races as they have been trying their best to make the necessary advancements and the significant preparations in order to enhance the pace of
MP4-27.
“This is turning into a unique season - one where every race provides new challenges and different outcomes,” he said. “Even though everything hasn't gone right for us, I'm confident that myself and the team are doing everything we can to ensure we're in
the best possible position to challenge for victory each and every weekend.”
Over and above, he expressed that he is positively looking forward to perform well in 2012 Canadian GP which is to be held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
“The Circuit Gilles Villeneuve is a fantastic track - it's super-fast in places, which means it requires finesse and precision, but you can also end up racing wheel-to-wheel with people at 200mph too, which is an incredible sensation,” he said.
