Lewis Hamilton feels immensely pleased after claiming victory in the Hungarian GP – Formula 1 news
Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton has said that he is feeling immensely pleased after claiming his maiden victory with the Silver Arrows in Hungary and is positively looking forward to score more wins in the season ahead.
Hamilton performed tremendously well in the qualifying of the Hungarian Grand Prix and successfully managed to secure the pole position. Afterwards, he delivered a remarkable performance in the race and claimed his first win of the season.
The British driver said that his victory in the Hungarian GP is one of the most important wins of his F1 career and he is very happy to be a part of the Brackley based squad. In addition, he stated that he is hoping to keep up the level of his performance
in the approaching races to compete well with his rivals in order to take more victories.
"I think this is probably one of the most important wins of my career," he said. "To move to a new team and to win for Mercedes Benz is a real privilege. I'm so glad I can be a part of the team and I really couldn't be happier. I hope there is many more
to come."
Besides, he said that he has been longing for a race win for quite long, therefore he took many risks at the Hungaroring to overtake his opponents after the pit stops so as to maintain his lead.
"I think you could tell I was hungry for it and I was just going all out," he added. "I needed to get past those people, usually I get stuck in traffic in my races, but today I just wasn't having it. I was going for every move I had."
In addition, he insisted that they need to work really hard in order to improve their tyre management to keep scoring competitive points with consistency in the season ahead.
At present, he is standing at fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 124 points. Moreover, he is ahead of Mark Webber of Red Bull Racing and behind his main rival, Fernando Alonso of Ferrari. It will be exciting to see how he performs in the upcoming
races.
