Lewis Hamilton feels numb after last race of his McLaren career – Formula 1 news
McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton has stated that he feels numb after driving the last time for the team in the Brazilian Grand Prix this Sunday.
“I feel a little bit like in 2007; quite numb,” Hamilton said. “It's quite mixed emotions at the moment; I feel sad that we were leading and we didn't get to see through the race - I love to always see the end of the race - and obviously because I'm leaving.
But I'm excited also for the future, so I'm looking forward to just having a new start next year and hopefully eventually at some stage I'll have a little bit of luck going my way.”
The McLaren driver has also complained about Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg failing to apologise to him as he collided with Hamilton to reclaim his lead. The collision caused Hamilton to retire from the race. Hamilton has appreciated his teammate Jenson Button
who won the race after he was taken out of the race.
He has also congratulated Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel for becoming the youngest triple champion. He said that he is satisfied and very happy for the team that they won the last race of the season. He added that he is looking forward to and is hopeful of
his future career with Mercedes.
Hamilton had secured the pole for the Brazilian GP but he fell behind Button and Hulkenberg at the start of the race. Hulkenberg led the race for most of the laps but then Hamilton was successful at coming back in the first place. It was then that the Force
India driver became aggressive in reclaiming his position and collided with the McLaren driver. Hulkenberg earned penalty as he ended the race for Hamilton. From there Button took the lead to win the race.
Hamilton will be replacing the historic Michael Schumacher who drove the last race of his F1 career this weekend. The driver had made his debut in F1 with McLaren in 2007 and has admitted that it is difficult to leave the team he has been with all his career.
He has admitted to being determined to win races for his new team next season.
